It’s been a long semester, but guess what? Summer is finally here! (At least, it is in Florida.) If you’re anything like me, you’re itching to put all of those exams behind you and start soaking up the sun. What better way to do so than some summer fun at Universal’s Volcano Bay? Marley and I spent a full day there, and from the water slides to the amazing treats, I was obsessed. It was my first time ever at a water park, so of course I had to bring my camera and show you all how much fun I had!
My ultimate pro-tip for any water park day? Wear a one piece swimsuit! I wore one of my favorites from Aerie, and boy am I glad I did! I definitely would have been stressing over a bikini disaster on some of those slides otherwise. Now that we’ve gotten the fashion tips out of the way, let’s jump in!
The theming and atmosphere of Volcano Bay is amazing. I have pretty high standards, especially since I’m so spoiled by Disney, but they were definitely exceeded! From the moment you step off the bus, you’re surrounded by the atmosphere of the park. It’s only been open for a year, so everything is pretty much brand new, and it wasn’t crowded at all.
The first thing we did upon arrival was check out our cabana! It was super cozy with a great view, and we were met with this cute little welcome basket:
I have no idea what flavor the cookie was, but it was delicious! Our cabana had a lovely view of the volcano, Krakatau, and the surrounding wave pools. One of the best parts of having a cabana is being able to use your TapuTapu without having to walk to any attractions! What is a TapuTapu, you ask? Basically, it’s a wristband that you can wear in the park to reserve your place in line for attractions. You have to walk to the attraction to “tap in,” and then you return when your wait time is up. You can also tap in right from your cabana, which is super convenient!
Before I arrived at Volcano Bay, I spent a hot minute scrolling through the location tag on Instagram for picture ideas. While conducting this research, I came across the most beautiful ice cream I’ve ever seen: Waturi Fusion! Obviously, I had to buy some and document it. It’s a swirl of banana, blue raspberry, orange, and strawberry. It tastes a lot like Runts – those candies in the vending machines at bowling alleys. It was so good, and so photogenic too:
Since I’ve never been to a water park before, I didn’t know what to expect at Volcano Bay. From Honu and Ika Moana, the twin raft slides, to Kopiko Wai, the lazy river, there was plenty to enjoy! I didn’t try any of the drop slides, but maybe next time I’ll be less of a wuss. It would be hard to pick a favorite attraction, but if I had to, I would go with the Krakatau Aqua Coaster. It was such a neat combination of a thrill ride and a water ride!
If you’re on the fence about visiting a water park in Orlando, I definitely recommend some summer fun at Universal’s Volcano Bay! I had a blast, and I’m already looking forward to my next trip. In the meantime, I’ll just be dreaming about that Waturi Fusion ice cream!
I have some fun stuff planned for the next couple of weeks, so keep an eye out for more blog posts! I’m also heading to New York City in July to attend Her Conference with Lena, so there will definitely be a post about that as well. In the meantime, be sure to check out my Facebook, Instagram, and Pinterest – I’d love to connect with you! Until the next post!
