Sometimes, I notice people seem to think that you can only like Disney World or Universal. Well, I’m here to tell you that there’s no such thing as too much fun! Last week, I dropped into Universal Studios for the day – and it was a total blast! Marley, Kelley, and I spent the day meeting kooky characters, eating tacos, and of course dancing our hearts out with the Blues Brothers! I brought my camera and took plenty of pictures, so get ready to find out just what I did as a Disney lover at Universal!
After a quick photoshoot at Mel’s Drive-In, (don’t worry, we came back for fries!) our first stop of the day was Diagon Alley! It’s pretty much my favorite area in the park – it’s so immersive and has some of the cutest photo-ops! I brought along my wand and couldn’t resist stopping in front of this pink door for the most Ravenclaw pose I could manage:
…and obviously you can’t stop in Diagon Alley with grabbing one of their yummy drinks! I know butterbeer gets all the hype, but I gotta say – fizzy orange juice is the bomb! And what goes with a treat better than a show? I’d never seen Celestina Warbeck perform before, and she was so amazing! As someone who’s totally spoiled by Walt Disney World’s live entertainment, she met and exceeded my ridiculously high standards by a mile.
Next stop? Hollywood, for a character-meeting extravaganza! Everyone knows Disney World has tons of beloved characters to meet, but I’m always impressed with how many great meet and greets there are at Universal too! We ran into Scooby Doo and the gang, Doc Brown, Betty Boop, and Beetlejuice. I’m telling you, Universal meet and greets are wild – Beetlejuice talked to us for fifteen minutes straight! Here’s a couple of the best shots:
Hanging out with Hollywood’s best can really make you work up an appetite, so our next stop was Springfield! Even though theme park food has a slightly bad reputation, I can confirm 100% that Bumblebee Man’s tacos are totally delicious. They even had guac! To top it off, we got Squishees – basically the Kwik-E-Mart version of the Slurpee. The raspberry lemonade flavor made the 95 degree heat almost bearable! Almost. I also got to take a photo with my favorite Simpsons character: Milhouse!
After another round of dancing with the Blues Brothers, saving E.T., and helping the Men In Black save the world, it was time for this Disney lover to head home. I love hanging out at Universal so much, and I’m so lucky to have a friend who can bring me with her – love you, Marley! If you’re on team Disney World, take my word for it – it’s so worth checking out Universal (and IOA) too! It’s worth the ticket price just to see the Blues Brothers, to be honest.
Next week, I’m heading to Texas for a few days, so my next post will probably be another travel diary. You can also follow along with my adventures on Instagram and Twitter! Until next time, I hope you have a magical week!
