My First Spring Dapper Day!

Hi everyone, welcome to my new and improved blog! I’ve been posting for a bit less than a year, and I thought it was finally time that I purchased my own domain. I’m now a self-hosted blog through WordPress.org – how wild is that! I’m going to be working on the theme of my blog in the coming weeks, so it might look a little different around here pretty soon. For now, I’ll just recap the best day of the season: Spring Dapper Day 2017!

In case you weren’t aware, Dapper Day is a fashion event that takes place every fall and spring at the different Disney parks! It celebrates timeless fashion, from vintage to modern and everything in between. This was my second Dapper Day ever, and my first time celebrating Dapper Day at the Magic Kingdom! It was an amazing time, even with the oppressive heat! Luckily, we took all our photos within an hour of arriving and thus avoided the potential tragedy of our makeup melting off.

This Dapper Day, I decided to go for a modern twist on a vintage look! I wore a black dress with eyelet details, white Keds with lacy socks, and a lacy white headband, and I carried a white purse with a floral design. I’m really glad I chose to wear sneakers instead of heels, because I think walking around for ten hours would have killed me otherwise! If you’re one of the brave souls who chose to wear heels, kudos to you, because you’re way stronger than I am.

Here’s a look at a couple of my best friends, Lena and Becky, and their amazing outfits! Lena Disneybounded as Belle, and Becky wore a vintage dress covered with states! I especially enjoyed finding the picture of Florida on Beck’s dress – unsurprisingly, it had an alligator on it!

And what sort of Dapper Day would be complete without some vintage trolley photos? Left to right: Becky, Lena, Dani, me, Emily, and Casey! This special Photopass opportunity was available especially for Dapper Day, so that was pretty darn cool!

To top this post off, I’m going to list a few tips for doing Dapper Day right for anyone interested:

  1. Bring back-up shoes! If your outfit goes with sneakers, that’s awesome, but a lot of Dapper Day looks call for something a little more fancy. Carry a pair of back-up shoes in your bag, so when you’re done taking photos you can change out of those painful heels.
  2. Dress for the weather! Fall Dapper Day is late enough in the year to usually avoid the extreme heat, but this year Spring Dapper Day happened to fall on a day of record-breaking temperatures. Wear lightweight fabrics, try to avoid long sleeves, and if a fan happens to go with your look, definitely bring one.
  3. Express yourself! Dapper Day is about having fun, so wear what you like best! If vintage isn’t really your thing, show off a modern look! Disneybound if it’s what you like, and be as subtle or wild as you please.

If you have any other tips for Dapper Day, or any questions at all, leave a comment! I’d love to hear your thoughts.
