Major Updates!

Oh my gosh, where has the time gone? It’s been weeks since my last post, and there’s a lot to catch up on! First of all, you might have noticed that the address of this blog is now nicoleewills. The reason I changed from technicallynicole to my full name is one of the reasons I haven’t been able to post much lately. It’s been a very hectic past couple of weeks, and to make a long story short, I’m now majoring in Advertising-Public Relations and double minoring in Digital Media and Writing/Rhetoric.

It’s pretty stressful to discover that something you thought you would enjoy/be good at (I’m looking at you, coding) is actually the opposite. I’ve always felt a little apprehensive about majoring in STEM because it seems like the things I’m really good at and enjoy aren’t compatible with that field. However, after a lot of research and job searching, I’ve discovered that the perfect marriage of my skills and marketable careers lies in the new major I’ve chosen. I hope to get into the field of digital marketing someday, and I’m looking at the University of Florida for graduate school. I’m so happy to finally have a plan that not only feels right, but realistic.

Now that that’s taken care of, moving on to the most exciting news of the week! I’m officially a published writer! My first two articles for Her Campus UCF are up and ready to be read! If you’re interested in checking it out, I would really appreciate it. The more page views, the better! I’ll be pitching and writing articles weekly from now on, so I’ll definitely link them on here as well. Another exciting development: since my last post, I went to my first college tailgate and football game and witnessed UCF win their first game in over a year! Here’s some photos I took (featuring Lena!):

That’s about all you need to know to be fully caught up on my life! The good parts, anyway. I’ll spare you the grisly details of my traumatic toe injury and my current sickness (the second of the school year – and it’s only been five weeks). My goals for the coming weeks are:

  1. Keep up my good grades, especially in my tough programming course
  2. Work on learning HTML/CSS
  3. Go to Disney because I haven’t been there in weeks

Until next time!
