Time flies when you’re extremely busy!

My first two weeks of college are officially over, and I haven’t had much more than an hour of free time to sit down and write. Fortunately, Labor Day weekend is giving me plenty of time to spread out my homework and still have time to chill. Here’s a little update of the most exciting things that have happened in the past week!

First of all: after two weeks in my Introduction to C Programming class, I’m pretty confused as to how I feel about my major. On the one hand, I know I.T. is a marketable degree that’ll basically guarantee me a decent job right out of college. On the other hand, I don’t know if my heart is really in the technical side of it. A few hours of coding usually only ends with feelings of frustration, eventually followed by exhausted relief when I finally figure a problem out. I’m wondering if I should major in something more in the business field and leave I.T. as a minor, or if I should pick something else entirely? Or, maybe I should just stick with it and see if I change my mind? Luckily, my schedule for this semester and next semester don’t require me to make a decision about that anytime soon. I’m hoping it’ll come to me naturally and I’ll end up where I’m supposed to be

Onto the exciting news! Even though I have plenty of time to make up my mind about a major, there are ways I can hopefully figure it out sooner than later. To get some experience in the marketing field, I just applied for a Disney Youth Programs Media Internship! If I’m accepted, I’ll be starting in January of next year and doing cool things like writing press releases, developing story pitches and articles for editorials, and learning about PR in general. Best of all, I’ll be doing it at the Happiest Place on Earth! Cross your fingers for me!!

That about covers the major happenings in my life over the past week. Tomorrow is the first football game of the school year, and my first tailgate ever!! Go Knights!!! (Hopefully, my next post will feature some bragging about how we destroyed the other team.)
